parse error in post.php No access to admin panel

  • Installed WP 1.2.2 using Adobe GoLive
    Server is running: PHP version 4.3.10 and MySQL version 4.022
    Data base is set up and running.

    I can access the blog. I can register a member name.
    I can not access the admin panel.
    I get this error:
    Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ‘,’ or ‘;’ in /home/amaliat/public_html/workinprogress/pages/wordpress/wp-admin/post.php on line 522

    Line 522 in post.php is this:
    echo “<form action=”%22.get_settings(“siteurl’).”/wp-admin/post.php’ method=’get’>\n”;

    Where am I missing an “,” or an “;” ?

    Deleted all files and mysql data base and installed fresh. Still bugged.

    Searched forums. Best I get is that this is some type of bug.

    Not smart enough for two much php coding, thus I have not been able to resolve.

    Any suggestions?

  • Adobe Golive has caused numerous problems for users over the months. Tons….

    Just use Notepad for editing, and a plain ftp client for moving files to the server.
    That will help.

    I am having a similar problem. I’m new to WP; just started using it this week and all was going well till just a bit ago. Now I get the following message if I try to log in:
    Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING, expecting ‘,’ or ‘;’ in /homepages/46/d87748858/htdocs/gigglefern/wp-admin/post.php on line 523″.

    I did move my WP files from the “blog” directory to the root directory earlier today (after learning that the style switcher plug-in is problematic when using different directories), and assume this is somehow related to my problem. Although I’m pretty sure I’ve logged in succesfully since then. Have used Dreamweaver for some of my work but could use ws_ftp to reload. Am not sure what to reload though.

    Suggestions are most appreciated.

    Sometimes you just gotta ask someone else in order to get to the place where you can figure it out yourself. I deleted the wp-admin directory and re-uploaded from a back-up. All is well now…
