Parse error in comments.php

  • I am trying to creat an “about” page for my blog and I am getting this error:

    Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/josh/public_html/blog/wp-content/themes/falling_dreams/comments.php on line 40

    Here is what that line looks like:

    <?php else : // this is displayed if there are no comments so far ?>

    Any ideas? Thanks!
