Parse Error, functions.php line 265

  • Hi, to the best of my knowledge I’ve completed the 5 minute install. But when I try to access install.php I get this message:

    Parse error: parse error, unexpected ‘)’, expecting T_VARIABLE or ‘$’ in /home/lemmert/public_html/wordpress/wp-includes/functions.php on line 265

    My webhost (webhostingboy.com) is running PHP 4.3.10 & MySQL 4.0.24-standard.

    Does anyone have any idea what is causing the error? Any help is appreciated!

  • I would delete the ‘functions.php’ file and reupload a new one.
    It looks like a file transfer error.

    I’ve tried that-several times. I still gives me the same error.

    I am having same problem. please help ys to resolve it.

    Since the WP search was not working, I searched with Google and found the answer. There is probably an unmatched quote problem in that line of code in the functions-post.php.

    Please let me know how to fix “unmatched quote problem”
