Just loaded WP 4.8.1 with quick install.

Why are you using an old copy of WordPress? Were you aware that your site is currently running a very real risk of being hacked? You need to upgrade WordPress asap.

Just install WordPress (today!) on my New website and already having this:
syntax error wp-content/plugins/optinmonster/OMAPI/Ajax.php on line 307

What version of PHP do you have? You can ask your hosting providers if you are unsure.

    Hi Andrew. It’s PHP 5.4

Changed it to PHP Stable (5.6). Didn’t help.
Still have wp-content/plugins/optinmonster/OMAPI/Ajax.php on line 307

    Ok, last update.
PHP Edge (7.1) helped to resolve the problem. Thanks Andrew!
