  • Hello Brad,
on what page and when (while trying to do something particular?) are you getting this error?

    Hello,

I am getting same error, it affecct the backend and fortunately not the front end.

I had to rename the WordFence folder in my root to be able to access again my website so it prevents access to the WordPress backend.

    This is the full error:
[21-May-2016 09:06:24 UTC] PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ”r’ (T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE) in /home/domainusername/public_html/wp-content/wflogs/rules.php on line 115

    Thanks for any help

I’m getting these errors too. On multiple sites but on the same server:

PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ''/(?:' (T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE) in /home/mydomain/public_html/wp-content/wflogs/rules.php on line 32

[19-May-2016 13:31:05 UTC] PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ''/(?:' (T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE) in /home/mydomain/public_html/wp-content/wflogs/rules.php on line 32

    Hello both of you,
we now have a bug filed for this. Our internal case number is FB1845. It will be included in one of the upcoming releases. I’ll try to get back to you when it’s in place.

this is the line in question:

    $this->variables['xssRegex'] = new wfWAFRuleVariable($this, 'xssRegex', '/(?:

    Cheers! That was quick ??

Guess what? Encountered this error again today?

I deleted the plugin and tried to reinstall, but still got same error and original thread:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ”request.body[newWhite’ (T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE), expecting ‘]’ in /home/domain.tld/public_html/wp-content/wflogs/rules.php on line 73

what do I need to do to resolve this for our website? we are paying for the plugin, but cannot use if I dont know how to fix.

everything is up to date – WordPress Version 4.7.1

    Hi Brad,
if you are paying for the plugin, please submit a support request via our premium support at https://support.wordfence.com. Thanks!
