parent/child category manipulation

i use the wordpress user frontend plugin, so users can post from frontend. The plugin give’s the ability to the user to choose a category for the post either by selectbox or by checkboxes. The problem is that i have too many categories with subcategories, so i want to display only the parent categories and when the user click the parent category to open the next level categories until the last child categories where the user will have to choose the category.parent/child category manipulation
