I’ve got an issue with the taxonomies. Although I am getting the selection returned, I do not understand why it is now showing as the same level as it’s parent.
This screen shot shows the selected place which is defined with Famagusta as it’s parent but as you can see it is now showing at the same level.

I believe that may be default WordPress behavior, where they move selected terms to the top of the list for easier management. While it also makes sense to keep things in the hierarchy, would you want to try to track down a term to unselect it? If you have only a few terms, that wouldn’t be horrible, but it’s definitely easy to get a LOT of terms as well and locating would become troublesome.

Even if it’s in a hierarchy? I find that difficult to believe as it looks like it’s at the same level as it’s parent.

Yep, even if the taxonomy is hierarchical. I’m seeing the exact same behavior with default categories with the “post” post type.

I have to imagine it’s done for usability and for reasons I mentioned above.

It’s definitely not something we have any sort of UI setting for and I’m not aware of any setting/option for this with WP core, outside of overriding the metabox generation completely, and that’s a larger task at hand to attempt.

OK, for now it’s a feature, not a bug!
