Hello everyone, (hope I am in good section)

I have a big problem and I haven’t found the solution despite my research.

On my site at the beginning I had made “links” parents child to “arrange” the pages the url address was for example :
    https://domain.com/parent/enfant1/enfant2
    https://domaine.com/parent2/enfant /child3
    etc etc

Except that given the number of pages on our site, my graphic designer used a plugin to organize the folders. As we don’t really like long URLs, she removed all the parent links (except 1) and so the link for each page changed:

    For example, before :

    https://domain.com/parent/enfant1/enfant2/page

    now
    https://domain.com/parent/page

when I click on view it’s the new link (I haven’t touched the permalink which is “post name” days) so I’ve changed the button links except that sometimes it redirects me to pages that no longer exist and have been deleted or to an old link that no longer exists …
I’ve cleaned the database and removed the old plugins … now I’m lost, I feel like I’ve made a big mistake….
    what can I do.

Important thing, I noticed that on some buttons there are the old links in direction (with the parents child) and which redirects towards the new page, on certain button it put the new links certain functions and other sends back on non-existent links…

I don’t know if everything is clear … How can I format the direction to the new “good links”?

    Thanks

It’s not clear how the intermediate pages were removed such as the “/enfant1/enfant2” portion of the URL. If those pages were removed while the parent of “page” was never altered, then WP will have trouble finding “parent/page” because page’s direct ancestor is still enfant2 and not parent. page will need to be edited to indicate that parent is its direct ancestor instead of enfant2.

I’m only guessing that this is the issue, but it’s easy enough to confirm in the page’s editor.

Another way to investigate what the problem is is to use the Query Monitor plugin to examine the SQL used for a page request that fails to find the right page. There will be something in the SQL that is preventing the right page from being found. What that is should indicate what needs to be fixed in the page’s data.

    Thanks for your answer !

The fact was …. Redirection :/ I have Yoast SEO (Premium) and it manages redirections too … there were 165 redirections links … lot of bad redirection … I deleted lot of them ( more than 50% ) and now all is good. ( almost good because now I’ve lost the admin rights but it’s an other subject in forum )

Thanks again for your quick answer and your “light”
