I have setup a custom post called PRODUCTS, I have set it to have TRUE Hierarchical setting so that I can create parent child categories. Please see attached screen captures. The problem is I see no option to choose a parent category when I create a new category or edit an existing one. What have I missed here please?

Ignore the attachment statement, not possible here…

You can’t attach any screenshots here but you can upload them somewhere else and share the link to that upload.

https://snipboard.io/ is often recommended but there are other sites as well.

Hmm, nothing missing that I can see, and you have “page attributes” checked. Just to be certain, you have at least 2 posts in the post type, with the intended parent being published, correct? You won’t be able to assign a draft post as a parent.

    Yes I currently have around 8 categories…

I think we’re mixing up details here. For one, you gave a screenshot of your post type settings, but are discussion taxonomy terms. That said looking closer, you do have a “product categories” taxonomy checked.

So, if that’s a custom taxonomy that you registered, and are only getting say a text input to type into for assigning the terms, then you’ll want to set the taxonomy to be hierarchical. That way you can assign parent/child relationships between terms.

Makes perfect sense, but I do not see an option to make Taxonomy hierarchical on the post type settings page?

Ah, my bad, looking in the wrong place. All sorted, thanks so much for you help one and all.
