• Hi,
I have a category called “Common”
I then have several sub categories under it. Each of those categories has several questions. Some of the questions appear in multiple categories.
How do I display a list of the subcategories with their respective questions. If i list the parent category (none of the questions are assigned there – only to the subcategories) I get a list of all the questions under Common and then each subcatgory with the questions repeated. I want to not have the parent category listed.
If I list the subcategories independently I get a list of all the categories each question appears in.Even ones that are not under the Parent category. It seems to list the categories based on the questions not the questions based on the categories. What I want is the following

    SUBCATEGORY1: all the subcategory1 questions
    SUBCATEGORY2: all the subcategory2 questions

Not the following which is what I get from [ultimate-faqs include_category=’common’] I get something similar if I just include the subcategories as well

PARENT CATEGORY: All the questions from every Category
SUBCATEGORY1: all the questions listed under Common and then all the subcategory1 questions and any other categories where those questions are assigned with the questions repeated under each heading

SUBCATEGORY2: all the questions listed under Common and then all the subcategory2 questions and any other categories where those questions are assigned with the questions repeated

I’ve tried a number of different ways of achieving that – I’ve taken them out of the parent category and listed each category in the shortcode I’ve also tried a separate shortcode for each one…
    Any help is greatly appreciated…

    Thanks
    Davis

  • Hi Davis,

Thank you for messaging us. We have actually noticed the issue (categories appearing in subcategories, and subcategories appearing in categories multiple times) a week ago and are working to fix it and pushing an update as soon as possible.

What we did ourselves was to duplicate the questions with different slugs and put them in the “common”, rather than letting the true common questions reside in multiple categories. It is quite tedious, but it should work for the meantime.

We apologize for the inconvenience that it has brought to you.

    Best regards,

    Etoile Web Design
