• Hi, I hope this makes sense …

I have a parent page with three or four child pages underneath, BUT I don’t want the top/parent page to be active as I only want the child pages to be clickable / able to view

I’m currently using the parent page to say, click on the sub-pages to view them, a bit untidy – can anybody please advise, many thanks

  • Well, its not making sense to me, not sure if its my English or you are not describing your problem well. Can you please elaborate little more so I can see if I can help you.

This is straightforward to achieve if you are using a custom menu.

Use a custom link as the parent menu item, with the pages nested under it.

Enter a Navigation Label for the text you want to appear on the parent menu item, and enter a hash character ‘#’ in the URL field.

Once this menu item has been added to the menu, you can edit it to remove the hash character. Then you will have a non-clickable parent to the page menu items below.

hi cubecolour, can I get an example of this somewhere as I’ve used wordpress for years but never used custom menus … really, I should have learned this a long time ago …

The best way to see an example would be to set up a test site and explore the menu feature, including setting up a non clickable parent menu item as I have described above.
