From within the back-end Gutenberg editor, to write a paragraph every new line just writes on top of the old line. Which makes the text entirely garbled and impossible to read/write/edit from the back end. On the published site/front end it looks fine. But this makes writing/editing from within the editor impossible, and as I’m eventually going to hand this site off to a client I’m going to have to consider it a breaking issue, which would be a shame. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Not sure if this matters but using Astra theme on Chrome. Have already tried disabling all plugins — does not resolve the issue.

Here’s an image of what the text looks like in the editor — not at all useable.

Hi @kaitlinamalthea – that definitely looks unusual. Are you able to try with a theme other than Astra activated to see if that makes a difference?

Hi Jordesign, thanks for the suggestion. Yes, it does seem to work okay if I put it on the default 2023 theme, so I guess the issue is with Astra. I will try to reach out to their support and see if they have solutions, as the theme is meant to be fully Gutenberg compatible (which is why I chose it).

Coming back in case someone searches this later: The issue seems to have been with the plugin Starter Templates, where I’d pulled in a kind of baseline to work with in Astra. After a lot of frustration I did a clean install and didn’t include that plugin or import any starter template (it was the only thing I hadn’t used on another site built with Astra) and the issue is fixed. Maybe this well be useful to others.
