    Hi

I installed a bbpress forum with a paid membership level by pmpro on my wp site.
Subscribers choose their username and password, pay for their membership, and they receive the confirmation email of the subscription. They also receive in the mail the login link to log in.
But then when they try their username and password to log in to the forum, they get “page not found”.
However the transaction appears well in the report of Pmpro and they also appear in the list of the subscribed members of my site.
Why don’t their username and password work?

    Thank you

    Franck

    Hi Franck,

Thanks for using Paid Memberships Pro.

Can you tell me more about your log in page? Is it the Paid Memberships Pro generated page and what option is set inside your Paid Memberships Pro page settings?

A 404 error usually indicates that the page doesn’t exist. Are you able to navigate to the default /wp-login.php URL okay?

We’re experiencing a very similar issue after updating to the latest PMPro version. We run a multisite and are seeing our members unable to log in (unless they’re in Incognito) — then going in a redirect loop from our custom page (e.g. /login) -> the default login page /wp-login.php/?redirect_to

We run over Cloudflare CDN with Elementor & WP Fusion running UX and syncing, in the background.

Our team is almost certain it’s due to a change in cookies being set. But maybe it’s part-WP fusion & part PMPro? Not sure if anyone is experiencing similar issues across their plugin stack? Everything was fine.

If I get a reply from the PMPro team or resolve the issue I’ll fill you guys in.

@asxinves thanks for the feedback here.

Paid Memberships Pro uses default WordPress functions to authenticate/login the user account. I’ve recently seen on another site that the wordpress_logged_in_[hash] and wordpress_sec_[hash] isn’t being set the first time from the frontend login.

We need to be able to consistently replicate this issue on our end in order to resolve the issue.

Can you tell me a bit more about your site:

    * Who is your hosting provider – is it a WordPress managed hosting package (Do they offer any server side caching or GDPR features that may block cookies)?
    * If you disable all plugins except Paid Memberships Pro and set your theme to TwentyTwentyOne and let me know if this issue persists?
    * Are you able to replicate this on another hosting site or staging environment (that’s not on the same server)?
    * Did this issue only occur from Paid Memberships Pro V2.5.7?

Any information that may help us replicate this issue will help us troubleshoot this issue.

    Thank you for understanding.

Hey Andrew, thanks for getting back to us.

If you can jump into the private support threads (#339424) you should be able to see that we’ve added some credentials for you.

    * Who is your hosting provider – Flywheel (https://app.getflywheel.com/) – I believe they do server-side caching… but nothing has changed on their end — just ours.

    * If you disable all plugins except Paid Memberships Pro and set your theme to TwentyTwentyOne and let me know if this issue persists? (unfortunately, it’s very hard for us to isolate this on a production multisite but we may be able to try on a local dev site?)

    * Are you able to replicate this on another hosting site or staging environment (that’s not on the same server)? I’ll try the same on my local server.

    * Did this issue only occur from Paid Memberships Pro V2.5.7? Yep. If you have a quick look at that ticket you may find more clues. I might try rolling back the plugin to see if that helps.

Also, just an FYI (might not be related) but on the your/the paidmembershipspro.com website when I log in on Chrome + iPhone (mobile/celluar connection) I click through to the default “log in” pagae in the header menu -> then it goes to your custom log-in page -> but then it redirects me to the /wp-login.php page even after a successful log-in. Only from wp-login.php could I log in on mobile. I may be jumping at shadows but that’s basically the same experience many of our users were facing. This kind of constant redirect loop.

I remembered that I was using the wp hide plug in to change the log url for administration, but it also changes the log for subscribers.

So I asked the subscribers to log in with my modified url, and it worked. Strangely, now they can log in even with the unmodified url even though I didn’t change the wp hide plug in settings.
