• First of all thank you for a fantastically simple but contemporary looking theme. I have applied the mesocolumn theme to my site and am having the following issues;

    1/ When viewing the category pages, my site only displays a single post for that category followed by pagination. Viewers must click the next page in order to see the second article for the given category (not ideal) on the mesocolumn demo, this does not seem to be the case (each category page lists multiple articles before pagination). Please help.

    2/ None of my posts display an excerpt in this theme. I use a combination of shortcodes and html to build each post (to fit my design needs) so this might inhibit the automatic excerpt creation (the content of each article normally only begins after a couple of lines of code). Is there a plugin or other method that you can recommend in order to manually enter an excerpt that will display for each post in the theme?

    Many thanks in advance.
    Sam

    what’s you setting for wp-admin->settings->reading?
    check static page should be disable, use latest post instead.
    check how many per post, should be around 5-10.

    @missing excerpt
    usually as long as there’s some text content in post, it will auto fetch the first 50 words. try create a new dummy post, add title and some loren ipsum text and see if it echo in excerpt when in homepage.

    is there a way for us to specify what exact 50 words are shown as an excerpt. I remember this existed in the WP.com blogs, but can’t find it here.

    That’s coz in my posts, first 50 words are story-building words and not necessarily the ones which will be helpful in attracting readers using an excerpt.

    Thanks in advance.

    i think that the $post->post_excerpt, not sure if they still work or deprecated already.

    <?php echo $post->post_excerpt; ?>
