    Hi!

There is the issue I’ve faced with the update.

    Where: categories and archive pagination.
What: meta description is empty on 1st page (it’s free version), on page >1 there is an empty meta description with ” – Page {n}”, where {n} – is current page number.

The problem: it seems (logical) if the description is EMPTY it should stay empty for all the pages, shouldn’t it?

I’ve already got some solution for meta description on that pages that I want, but now I get 2 meta description tags.

And there is no way to prevent output. Even when I disable the meta for this type of object, I get this result + noindex adds.

Why? If I want to handle meta for this object by myself? I don’t need noindex.
How should I resolve this issue?

    Thanks.

    Hey @nikitasp,

We’ve actually got a fix for this that will be included in the next update. It should be out somewhere next week if all goes well.

    Hey @nikitasp,

Looks like you’re right. We’ve already included another fix in the next update that also fixes this coincidentally, so the next version should close this off.

    Hi @arnaudbroes,

Sorry for didn’t response too long, but seems the issue is still there – Ahrefs just pinged me that I’ve got 2 meta descriptions.

Please, remove ” – Page %s” from meta description on pagination pages (for taxonomies) if the meta description is empty by default, for those who doesn’t have Pro version.

    Thanks.

@nikitasp Can you please provide the URL for a paginated taxonomy archive where this is happening.

    @wpsmort

I didn’t want to provide the link for the security reasons, but seems there is nothing else to do. Please, let me know when you’ll got it – I’ll remove the link from the post.

    1. https://rubika.com.ua/blog – none meta description from AIOSP, custom meta description outputs using functions.php using custom fields and wp_head action.

    2. https://rubika.com.ua/blog/page/2 – empty meta description + ” – Page %s” from AIOSP and custom meta description.

There should not be ” – Page %s” meta description if AIOSP meta is empty, because there is no premium => there is no meta description for this taxonomy (category).

    Thanks.

@nikitasp Are you saying that you’re using our aioseo_description filter in your functions.php to output the meta description for your Blog page?

    Thread Starter Nikita_Sp

    (@nikitasp)

@wpsmort no, just echo function for wp_head action. I’ve wrote it above.

@nikitasp then I’m not sure what you’re saying here – “none meta description from AIOSP, custom meta description outputs using functions.php using custom fields and wp_head action.”

    Thread Starter Nikita_Sp

    (@nikitasp)

@wpsmort I mean that I dont’s have premium version of the plugin => there is no Taxonomies meta description settings => There is no meta description for categories => I use custom fields and wp_head action to echo my custom meta description.

ISSUE: if I don’t have premium => there is no meta description for categories => WHY there is meta description for category pagination pages? That’s why I got doubled meta description tag. Can’t you see it? Did the link was helpfull?

So, seems there is a bug, because it sounds logical that if there is no Premium (if meta description for Tax/Category is empty) – the meta description doesn’t outputs neither on 1st page, nor others.

    Hope this helped.

@nikitasp There are no settings for controlling the SEO on individual categories, but there are absolutely settings to control the format for SEO titles and descriptions for categories, tags and custom taxonomies. You can find these under All in One SEO > Search Appearance > Taxonomies. So you may want to check what you’ve set there.

@wpsmort seems works, could you please tell where we can remove noindex tag from pagination pages (2nd, 3rd, etc)?

    Thanks.
