paginate_comments_links() not working

  • I have my comments displaying as desired, with only 4 top level comments per page, but the paginate_comments_links() does not work and I can’t figure out why. My comments.php was basically taken from the twentyeleven theme, and modified slightly to make the output order: comment, author, date. Is there a common reason why this might not work?

    Also, it shouldn’t be my comments.php or functions.php causing the issue. I’ve activated the 2011 theme, and replaced their functions.php and comments.php with mine, and it works…so file could I be missing that is causing the issue?
