    Hi Vasyl,

    I’m having some weird behaviour after updating today using the AAM Dev License and going from WP 4.3.1. I’m not sure which update causes the following issue.

    With AAM activated the built-in Pages now suddenly show Categories as an option (for any given user with the rights for managing Pages).With AAM deactivated the Categories option disappears. So in the Admin I see: Dashboard > Pages > Categories and in de Page edit view I see Categorie in the side.

    I’m running a local version of the same project (but without AAM installed), without this issue. In case you’re wondering I’m using Custom Post Type UI version 1.1.2, but this hasn’t caused any issues and I’m using it solely to create new post types. I haven’t altered the core/built-in Pages of Posts, neither through plug-ins or functions.php.

    There’s also another issue which I’ll address in a seperate topic.

  • Hi Studiobovenkamer,

    AAM acting as expected. AAM Plus Package extension adds additional custom taxonomy – Page Categories. This is used to simplify the category access control cause you can group pages into categories and manage access to group of pages.

    You can deactivate this behavior with ConfigPress plugin. Simply install it and go to Settings->ConfigPress. Then insert this config:

    [aam]
    page_category = “false”

    Thanks for your immediate reply and explanation!

    I understand the added functionality in using categories, but shouldn’t this be an opt-in option? As far as I know your plug-in doesn’t add anything (visible) when it’s activated and left default configured (which is good). You can flavour the options from there on, instead of having it flavoured for you.

    Personally I don’t like it when stuff is added by default, which have to be turned-off again. I’d reckon the default of WordPress should be the starting point, so you can flavour it yourself.

    But this is a usability/design decision you should make.

    Hi Studiobovenkamer,

    Totally agree with you. We still transitioning some legacy from the AAM 2.x to the new version. In our next release of extensions, this feature will be toggled by the AAM Utilities.

    Most likely we’ll release some updates early next week.

    Thank you for your feedback.
    Vasyl
