pages not working when modifying permalinks for SEO

I’ve modified the permalinks in wordpress to reflect only the post title for better SEO, when you click on a post it works great it takes you to that post’s page, but when you click on a page, it gives you the page not found error…. but if I return the permalinks to its defualt everything works as normal
