Pages not formatted

    Sorry, very new to this.
    I have installed wordpress on a local machine (Linux) and I am trying to create a site and is all good – it renders to pages as I expect when addressing from the machine on which the site resides – however it appears not to pick up either the css or images when accessing from a foreign machine.
    I have seen that there can be file/folder permissions issues, so I have been through and changed ownership and re-set permissions to those advised (I think).
    Has anyone any advice on this please?
