i was happily dividing my page up into columns using woo shortcodes, nothing real complex, but when i checked my changes and reverted back to the edit screen i could see no content. i pressed update and the actual site page is fine but in wordpress i see no content to edit in ‘visual’ mode and when i click on the ‘text’ tab, it does nothing. [actually I can highlight the blank area and see that the code is there but in white].

ps. i’m worried that if i deactivate plug-ins i might loose changes. my active plug-ins are Google Maps Widget, Simple Page Sidebars & Under Construction. i thought i resolved this problem after i deactivated the ‘Follow’ plug-in but the problem has returned.

    any ideas?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

if i deactivate a plugin and then reactivate it later or alternatively change the theme to the default, will i loose settings that i have made in plugin option or theme options?

eg. on my contact page i have changed the sidebar so that it displays a google map so if i deactivate the plugin ‘Simple Page Sidebars’ then my sidebar will change to default. if i reactivate the plugin, will i see exactly the same sidebar with the map or will it remain on default?

my concern is that all my fine tuning of my site will be lost. eg. i changed my link colours throughout the site. whilst they are minor changes, they add up to a fair bit of time to re-instate. especially for those of us who don’t use wordpress a lot.

In most plugins & themes, no.

it seems to be the pug-in mentioned… ‘Simple Page Sidebars’. firstly, i can deactivate and enable the plug-in and the problem is re-created each time it’s active. really weird tho how it just suddenly started after having had this plug-in for some time and having made about 30 edits to the page today before the problem arose.

secondly, when i do reactivate the plug-in my sidebar settings are re-instated [and so the map appears in the sidebar].

so it’s resolved but i need the plug-in. besides only activating it after all edits are complete, what else can i do? forward this topic to the plug-in creator i guess?

    Yep. ??

actually i may have spoke to soon. the plug-in ‘Simple Page Sidebars’ displays a map as mentioned. That map is provided by the ‘Google Maps Widget’. when i deactivate the ‘Google Maps Widget’ plug-in my pages edit content section works and when i activate, it stops working.

so i’ll let google know. i hope they can find someone to fix it sometime soon!
