    Hello All,

I hope someone can help me out on this.

I am helping out my father with his wordpress site, the pages linked on his navigation menu on his home page do not work. When I click on them, it leads me to a “404 Page Not Found”. He admits that he had accidentally deleted 2 files but is not sure which he deleted?

    Most appreciated for some guidance,
    Thanks.

Pages and posts are stored in the database, not as separate files. Do you mean that he deleted them from the “Posts” or “Pages” pane? If so, check the trash on that pane. Unless he emptied it, they should still be there.

He deleted 2 files from the File Manager folder of his domain in his Web Host. File Manager -> web. They were deleted from the web folder. Any ideas?

    Thanks ??

Um…that’s not how WP operates. You might want to contact his host. They should have a record of this in a log somewhere.

    Apologies for the late reply.

I contacted his host and they said that they only keep a back-log for 30 days apparently. Could I re-install wordpress, from my host, whilst saving a copy of the site? Would you know another way I could solve this?

    Thanks!

Pages and posts are stored in the database, though, not as separate files on the server. Do you have a link to the missing pages?
