    WP 5.5.3-Multisite

    Hello!

    May be it’s since 5.5, I don’t know exactly:

    1. When I publish a new page, the status of the page remains in “draft”.

    2. When I update a page with status “publish”, the status of the page is reset to “draft”.

    3. When I edit posts, anything is as expected.

    4. The problem dispense, when I switch to troubleshoot mode and activate only the classic editor. Without this activation, the Gutenberg-Editor is loaded and on editing a published post, I can see for a short time the hint “page had been reset” (translation from german…). New pages aren’t set to “publish”, as in normal mode.

    5. As far as I tested, this behaviour seemed to occur only in my multisite-installation. On a single installation, everything is fine (with classic editor activated).

    6. In both cases, I’m able to set a page to “publish” when using QuickEdit.

    Can anybody help? Thanks!

It sounds like there is an API communication issue. The block editor uses it but classic does not. Are any issues flagged on the site health page? (under tools)

    Thanks for answering, @bcworkz ,

No, 0 critical issues and 0 recommended improvements.

As I see just now, there’s an important aspect not in my list:

    7. I use classic editor as standard, and the problem occurs like with Gutenberg in troubleshoot-mode – but with no message of status reset. In other words: in normal mode the issue is independend from using classic editor or Gutenberg.

So in troubleshoot mode with classic editor re-activated (and nothing else) all is well? From that point, restore your normal theme and plugins, one at a time until the problem recurs. The last activated module is causing the trouble.

    Yes, exactly.

And I actually wanted to save myself the laborious search for the cause …

    Thanks, so far, @bcworkz .

    Lucky punch, got it!

    It was a snippet…

    Thanks a lot, @bcworkz !
