Pages and related links on home page.

I think my question is easy.On my site, I dedicate a part of it to discussing film. I want to create say four categories or types of film, with their own page. The “parent” would be the relative home page for this subsection. How can I create a menu on the home page (given a particular theme template) that does NOT have all the links on it, but rather on the relative home page for the “movie” section of the site?

I do see a customizable menu on my theme, but I don’t think it covers this base.
