Page Width

Hey all,

I am new to WordPress, so please bear with me. I have encountered some problems when attempting to edit the 2011 template. I successfully changed the width percentage to 120% for both the menu and the image. However, when I attempt to remove the padding below the menu or the content width to 120% CSS resets the image and the menu to 100%. Am I approaching this the wrong way? I feel like there is some code that automatically adjusts the rest of the page when I edit another part of it.

Also, when editing something in the past (I think when I removed the “leave a reply” section on a .php document), I lost the background for the content portion of the page. I would like to restore the background, so I can have contrast with the main background in the future.
