• Suddenly got notified that a link was missing and under investigation found the post was missing. It’s one from about a year ago. I did have a back up on my host and my brother has found it (far far too complicated and technical for me) how do I put it back in the same date? i.e. not as a new post. All the gobbledegook of links and stuff is there an easy way of putting that back?
Many thanks – words of one syllable please.

Blimey how easy was that! Fantastic cheers me dear!

Now, what’s this gobbledegook at the beginning of the post?!
‘The Great Task Based Insurance #Hoax’,”,’inherit’,’open’,’open’,”,’515-revision-5′,”,”,’2013-02-07 11:21:37′,’2013-02-07 11:21:37′,”,515,’https://www.thecomplainingcow.co.uk/515-revision-5/’,0,’revision’,”,0),(517,1,’2013-02-01 15:25:41′,’2013-02-01 15:25:41′,’I am pleased to include this Guest Blog Post by Chris Hargreaves who can be found on Twitter @scotprovsaysno\n\nIt

    TA!!!

When you said you had a backup of the post, what exactly was the backup, just a SQL file dump of your database? If so, simply remove all the uneeded text because new data will be created when you save the post.

Ah, see now I have no idea what you are talking about! The whole website was backed up then my brother got the document from the database? Sent it to me and it starts with that gobbledegook!

    Thread Starter The Complaining Cow

    (@the-complaining-cow)

Oh I might be getting you so just delete that rubbish and post as a post?

    But there’s stuff like this:
should read! Please also share with friends and colleagues we need to get the message out to stop these big organisations taking our money!\n\nWe are told time

got loads of \ throughout the text and will these links work for example:
    statistic.\n\nChris and Nicola\n\nExternal Links:\nFB: Facebook Angry Policyholder\n\nSome of the media articles covering our campaign\n<a title=\”This is money\”
if I paste into “text” not visual?

    Thread Starter The Complaining Cow

    (@the-complaining-cow)

    ah no…?

When you post the text into the post editor, just remove all the faff that you don’t need. So:

    statistic.\n\nChris and Nicola\n\nExternal Links:\nFB: Facebook Angry Policyholder\n\nSome of the media articles covering our campaign\n<a title=\"This is money\"...

    Should be changed to:

    statistic.

    Chris and Nicola

    External Links:
    FB: Facebook Angry Policyholder

Some of the media articles covering our campaign
    <a title="This is money"......

You might be best just stripping out/pasting the body of the text and then manually recreating the associated links.

And yeah, into the Text editor. The Visual editor is just plain evil IMHO ??

    (@the-complaining-cow)

So I have to go manually though getting rid of the /s? No quick way?!

Paste the text into a text editor and use its search and replace function.

    Thread Starter The Complaining Cow

    (@the-complaining-cow)

Hmm but it’s more than just the / there is no quick way is there?!! Thanks for all your help. I don’t know which \ to get rid of as some form part of links don’t they?

What about the Way Back Machine

I think your post appears there.

    Thread Starter The Complaining Cow

    (@the-complaining-cow)

    where?!

    Thread Starter The Complaining Cow

    (@the-complaining-cow)

Think I’ve got it – thanks for your help!!
