Page Title (seo title) and Meta Description default back to auto generated values everytime I update a page in wordpress.

I have to manually copy/paste in both at the bottom of the page in the AIOSEO Setting box EVERY TIME I update a page.

I don’t think it was doing this before the latest update.

  • Hi @youngkm3,

Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention.

Would you mind temporarily deactivating all plugins (except All in One SEO), switching your theme to the WordPress default theme, and reproducing the issue?

    Let me know the result.

Ok with everything deactivated, it does work fine.

I tested a few plugins and it turns out it’s happening when the plugin called “Classic Editor” is enabled.

However, I’ve used the Classic Editor plugin for years and on multiple sites along with AIOSEO and no problems until about a week or two ago (I think there was an AIOSEO update).

Honestly, I am not going to proceed without using the classic editor. I would rather switch my SEO plugin. So maybe you guys can figure out what’s wrong.

Ok, upon further testing, it does indeed still revert back to the “tags” in the page title and meta description fields even with “Classic Editor” turned off.

So to confirm, all plugins are deactivated (except AIOSEO), and the theme is the wordpress original theme, and yes, the bug is still happening.

Here is the process to make it happen…

    -Go to edit a page
-update the page title and meta description
    -save as a draft
-navigate to another page or wordpress dashboard
    -wait a few minutes
-come back to the original page in question
-scroll down and the page title and meta descriptions are as I left them
    -save as a draft
-now the page title and meta descriptions have reverted back to the default tags

    Hey @youngkm3,

Thank you for taking the time to write those instructions.

I’ve been able to reproduce this and have confirmed it’s a bug. I already have a fix in the works so we’ll probably issue a hotfix for this today.
