Page title breaks in wp_list_pages

I have read a number of other posts regarding this, but none quite asking the same thing.

I am using wp_list_pages in my fixed width footer.
I have pages with several words in the title (Maps and Directions)
The break to send it to the next line is occurring in the middle of the page title, instead of after the previous page.

In essence, I need WP to treat the page title as one word.

Any ideas?
