Page Status Suggestion
-
Hey there. Great plug and very useful. However, I have a suggestion for the page statuses. Currently you have published, pending review, and draft. That’s great but leaves a few holes in the typical desired logic for this type of system.
Suggestion 1 – make a setting to allow these to be published immediately, or pending for review as they currently are. On my site, I’m getting users submitting the same idea over and over again because they don’t know their submission was received and is pending review.
Suggestions 1b – when set to pending for review, allow a custom field that displays after submission so that the user is aware of this action. This will prevent the above where I have users submitting over and over. User feedback is critical on forms and this one is no different.
Suggestion 2 – After an idea is published, it still have an additional lifecycle that you’re not accounting for here. For example, if this is a website feature request (like mine is), then I might also have the additional statuses of in review, accepted, denied, in progress, and complete.
Suggestions 2b – In addition to adding those statuses, it would also be beneficial to be able to visually separate the on the front end. Maybe a css class is added for different statuses that can change their appearance. Also, you might want to have the filter default to show all except denied and complete to help keep the ones that are done by denial or implementation out of view. Of course, being able to see them by changing the filter would probably also be recommended so that users can see all old issues as well, but that they don’t immediately clutter up the view.
Anyways… I hope you take these suggestions. I’m sure that others would find this helpful as well.
Best,
