• Hey guys,

I’m trying everything to speed up my site. W3 Total Cache, MaxCDN, Google Page Speed Service and Incapsula are services that I tried or that I’m still using.

When consulting performance measurement tools like GTmetrix or Pingdom.

My problem: Although I’m not changing content at all, scores vary. E.g. optimization of images or specification of image dimensions or “leverage browser caching” dimensions which Google Page Speed Service should deliver sometimes is active and sometimes it not.

Do you think that this is a matter of interference of some of those services?

Or are those performance measurement tools simply bad?

Which of the services mentioned would you activate and which would you use for handling what (e.g. minify, image optimization etc.)?

    Looking forward to your reply!

    Best,
    Volker

  • first of all those scores always vary every time you check them especially if you are using cdn or web cache . Any score above 80 is good for page speed . Once i tried and spend about 2 days just to tweak my score . I moved till 97 but then i saw that my site is not rendering properly on some devices and browsers which is bad user experience . So make sure to optimize it with page still rendering all javascript files . Secondly one of those plugins crashed my website during wordpress update i do not remember exactly which one . Still at 91 pretty good .

So, what would you count on? Actual load time or load time measured by pingdom/GTmetrix? Does anyone have experience whether the values measured by those tools for all those locations is more or less correct?

Anyone experienced with MaxCDN vs. Incapsula vs. Google Page Speed Service?
