• I am new to W3TC and depending heavily on the hints and tips within the plugin.

This particular tip has caused me the most issue and I want to bring it to your attention.
“To acquire an API key, visit the APIs Console. Go to the Project Home tab, activate the Page Speed Online API, and accept the Terms of Service. Then go to the API Access tab. The API key is in the Simple API Access section.”

    1. This link, https://code.google.com/apis/console, redirects me to https://console.developers.google.com/ which looks to be Google new console dashboard. In the new dashboard, the key are located API & Auth >> Credentials >> Public API Access >> Create New Key. There is no Simple API Access.

1.5. I Google “Old Google Developers Console” and was taken to code.google.com/apis without being redirected to console.developers.google.com/

    2. Simple API – After enabling Page Speed, there are no readily available keys to use. In both code.google.com/ and console.developers.google.com/ you have to generate a key. There are 4 choices. Server, Browser, Android, and iOS. I assume I need to generate a browser key and did so.

Every else is top notch! Thank you for a great plugin.

  • Is there anybody using the W3TC Page Speed Widget and API Key?

I haven’t found any recent resource on internet about this. I think nobody is using this feature or consider it an issue.

Greetings. I know this is a bit old, but to enable the Pagespeed Widget to work with W3TC:
Under the new Google Developer Console, you must use a BROWSER key.

    Create an API key.
    Use the BROWSER type.
Recommended to enter *.domain.com/* as the only site that can use your key.

    Wait a bit.

    Hope that helps!
