Page Permalinks returning 404 after i migrated the wp site! Please help!

  • Hi All,

    I recent moved a WordPress site from a sub-directory to the root directory of a friend’s site. I followed instructions in the codex but ran into an issue with firefox while i was changing the URIs for wp.

    All of my posts are working correctly after I reset the permalinks once. But the pages are not displaying. I’ve attempted to create new pages and they are also returning a 404 error.

    Is there something I have to do to the .htaccess file to get these to work?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • to see if its permalink related you could set permalinks back to default, and delete/rename the .htaccess file, then test everything

    If its all good, set back to custom

    I believe the issue might be with my friend’s hosting. He is using Yahoo and they will not permit access to the .htaccess file. Do you know of another way to fix this w/o access to the .htaccess file?

    Use ugly permalinks.

    Or, IIRC, put index.php/PERMALINKCODE in your permalinks… I seem to recall that working.

    But no, if Yahoo doesn’t allow .htaccess, then you can’t. And they suck.
