• On my pages, it is adding .html to the permalink/page slug. I don’t want the .html extension. I can’t edit the .html part of the permalink while on the Edit Page screen.

Changing permalinks settings has no effect. They are set to /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/ and have been for years.

We don’t know how .html got to be added; it just showed up, we just noticed it one day. In the menu, the links are generated as .html, and the links work. I looked through plugin settings but can’t find anything.

    * What would cause this, for WP to force .html?

    * Where is the permalink for the pages set?

    – It’s on the Genesis Framework v 1.7

    * The problem was happening when on WP 3.1 and Genesis 1.5 ; the upgrades occurred after to see if it would fix the .html

    Thanks!

Do you have any plugins installed that would “optimize” your links? Try disabling each of your plugins to see if the problem is resolved. Another possibility, is your .htaccess rewrite is adding .html, so see if that’s the culprit. Otherwise, check with the author of your theme framework, see if they are aware of a similar issue in their theme.
