• I tried to set up a page under a parent page and after I chose the parent page and published it I got this error while tryint to acces it : Invalid File ID or File Name. I wanted to have something like this : domanin.com/parent page/page and after publishing it gave me that error.

  • Did you amend the page permalink?

Yes I did, but it still doesn`t work.

I meant did you originally amend the permalink before publishing the page?

Well the original permalink was domani.com/page1 and after adding the page under a parent it became domain.com/parent/page1 and that is where i got the error. Even when accessing domain.com/parent/page1 from the WordPress control panel.

Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting. If that works, then set your custom permalink structure back up again.

Hmm but won`t that affect people that come to my site to certain pages? And if I switch it back will everything come back to normal?
Hmm it looks like this problem occurs only when i try to add a certain page as parent. If i try to add a different page as parent everything is fine.
And I`ve figured out the problem. The links are case sensitive, for example is I write the page names with capital letters the permalinks have small letters and it only works if I use capital letters in the links, how can i do that?

won`t that affect people that come to my site to certain pages?

Not if you set your custom permalink structure back up again once the problem has been resolved.

I write the page names with capital letters the permalinks have small letters

    That’s normal WP behaviour.

it only works if I use capital letters in the links

Definitely sounds like a permalink problem. I’d suggest not only resetting the custom permalinks to the default settings but deleting/renaming your WP root .htaccess file as well.

Resetting the permalinks to their default setting is out of the question because I have a lot of people coming from links posted on other sites that go to specific pages, so I cant do that. Wont deleting the .htaccess file make my page unavailable?

    so I cant do that.

It will be a 5 minute change at most.

Tried resetting the settings and that didn’t work, what next?

it looks like this problem occurs only when i try to add a certain page as parent.

Perhaps the problem is within the parent page. Is there anything that makes this page different from the others?

Not really, it’s a page named Download, and I want to add it as a parent for another one. I really have no idea why only that page causes this… and it’s case sensitive, again, the only one.
If I add other pages as parent everything works fine. I tried deleting it and adding it again, no chance, nothing works..
And on top of this I did a test today : added a page test and added that as a parent for page test 1 and everything worked fine.. why the Download page won’t allow this is beyond me ..
I tried deleting the pages and adding them with lower case letters, again, this did not work..
