    Hi,

I have a page, where Instagram feed and Facebook feed are both included on the homepage, via shortcode. This has been working without a problem for a while.

Now, when I try to edit other parts of the homepage – as soon as I add some text – the “Save” button will grey out, and it is no longer possible to save the page at all.

I found out, that the only way to actually save the page, is to delete the Facebook shortcode. When I do that, I can save the page – but then the Facebook feed is obviously gone.

Can you confirm and do you have a solution?

    Thanks,

    Astrid

Thanks for reaching out and using our plugin. ?? Are you using the Gutenberg editor? It’s strange that you were able to save it the first time with no trouble, but now it won’t save. Could you try deactivating all other plugins but ours and see if you are able to save the page? It’s possible another plugin is causing the issue with shortcodes being on a page.

Hi there – the page is built with the Siteorigin Layout builder – and the particular shortcode is imbedded in a mirror widget in order to control the layout (background color, padding etc.).

I found out that if I rebuild that page with the Gutenberg editor – and putting Siteorigin Layouts everywhere – and ONLY replace the Mirror Widget for the Facebook feed with a simple Siteorigin Widget (instead of adding the Mirror Widget within the Siteorigin Layout), then the page will save. So it’s got something to do with the combination of Siteorigin Layout Builder and your shortcode. There are three other Mirror Widgets on the site, which will work without a problem.

    Best,

So it sounds as if you resolved the problem then? I do know that sometimes using regular type widgets instead of an html type widget can cause issues with shortcodes.

Yes, that workaround solved it. However, the shortcode worked perfectly within the widget before – so something must have changed recently that causes it to have issues now.

That’s good to hear. It may be time-consuming, but if you want to understand why it stopped working, you would need to load earlier versions of the plugins or theme and get it back to working condition. That may not be worth it, though, since you have it working currently. If you don’t already, it’s always good practice to download a version of the theme or plugins before updating them. As much as auto-update for plugins or themes seems like a good idea, I’ve found over the years that it can be somewhat counterproductive, especially if you have many moving parts.
