Twenty Twelve child theme with no alterations is in use.

Trying to diaplay the site “The connection was reset” is displayed after a flash of the usual banner photo.

The Dashboard is displayed and all menu items: pages, posts, Users, Settings, etc. all seem to work as normal.

I have noted several threads asking about this. Where a solution has been suggested none yet have worked for me.

A server-side problem is mentioned, but before I needlessly raise a ticket with the hosting service can I ask if there is a solution I can try.

    Thanks.

Most of the times this error has nothing to do with WordPress. You’ll need to contact your host and have them look at the server / error logs. Perhaps your website is hitting a memory limit?

I have also been having trouble with pages not loading.
I uploaded a picture onto media and then added it to one of the pages. I pressed update and all was fine. I then started spacing the photo along the page and when I pressed update again it just kept loading and is still loading. This occurred yesterday.
It seems to have just affected all the pages. What ever page I click on it keeps loading and I cannot click on anything.
It works fine for our other account users. I set up another account and it worked perfectly, until the same thing happened. I tried closing it down, restarting the computer, deleting the page and nothing seemed to fix this.
The website also works fine. https://www.fenceandgate.net.au
A little help on this would be greatly appreciated thanks!

    @islasimpson,

If the troubleshooting already posted made no difference for you, then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic.

    Further:
The server support reply has been to assure me that they are able to load and examine my website with no problem. I am able to display the admin dashboard – but not Preview any page or post.

Do I have a browser problem? Well the same error occurss in Firefox, MS Edge, Palemoon, Chrome and Opera. I have tried to clear caches where I could find them.

This text from an Inspector view of the support email shows the anchor tag used by server support as being quite convoluted – for some reason. The simple version of this link – before the target=”… ” – is what I would normally use to display the site.

Do I re-query the server support people?

    Thanks.

Above I wanted to note that the link code sent to me by server support to prove they could connect OK contained gobbldygookwhen when seen by Inspector. I have since discovered that gmail adds this code for reasons well beyond me, and is not the problem.

Anyway; finding an IOS machine I see the website link opens as normal. On an Android tablet it seems to open as normal.

On another Win10 PC it displays the same Connection Reset error. And AVG free throws a pop-up saying there is a Link to Exploit site; 14,184 websites are affected if viewed on any Windows OS.

My Avast (paid-for) does not show the pop-up information, and I do not see any relevant log entry.

So, does my site harbour bad code?

Should I download all the files, media, WP code and text, scan them locally, then upload them again?

    Thanks for advice.

Not wishing to be boring, there is a solution which may be an evasion of the problem. I am not sure.

Adding the desired – non-working – URL to the Avast exclusion list allowed the website to be displayed as normal. Whether that will cause a threat to this PC we shall see.

That may be a workaround rather than a solution.
