• I’ve read numerous posts about disabling plugins and checking htaccess and such, but when I even try to access my /wp-admin, I get the error:

The page you tried to access does not exist on this server. This page may not exist due to the following reasons:
You are the owner of this web site and you have not published (or incorrectly published) your web site…
The URL that you have entered in your browser is incorrect…
The Link that you clicked on incorrectly points to this page…

When I look on the file manager (in Host Gator), everything is there and looks quite normal. The “home” site url still points to old content not the newly installed WP.

Umm?? I have no idea what to do, but I assume it’s a WP problem not a Host Gator problem. Thanks!!

  • What is your website url? How long has your site been up?

Try chmodding your files and folders.

chmodding… I’m beyond my depth. I’ll have to look that one up!

Robin, it’s ariaconstruction.net, and it should have propogated by now. I transferred the domain and installed WP 3 or so nights ago.

    Thanks!

Chmod is to change the file permission. Like 775 or 777. Sound familiar?

Yeah, vaguely. Thanks! I changed the folder permissions in public_html to 777. Most of the php files are 644, but I don’t plan to edit individual php files (at least not on a code level, if that makes sense). [Kinda talking out my butt here.]

    This stuff just confounds me…

    Thanks for your help!

I should mention that this is for an addon domain. It’s my first attempt to manage two domains under the same roof.

Did chmodding all of the files and folders help? I don’t ever chmod my config file to 777.

No, that didn’t help. I double checked that all folders were set to 755. All php files are 644. Hostgator does not recommend 777 for security reasons. Makes sense to me.

Any other thoughts? Thanks, s3mw, for your responses.
