• Hi
I’m using the TwentyEleven theme, but each time I click a link it loads the entire page again (Noticed because I get a brilliant flash of light between each link click).
Is there anyway to a stop each page from loading NEW again each time?

Also, if it HAS to flash white, can I not have it flash black instead?
    Thanks

  • You may have your cache settings set to not cache.

It will always have to flash white as what you are seeing there is the browser loading the page in it’s blankest state, which is a blank white screen.

    Hi
It flashed white on every computer I’ve tried it on. At different locations too.

IS there anyway of only getting the new content to load each time?
As far as I can see this has nothing to do with what browser or operating system I view it on as it always loads each page in its entirety.

Seriously dude, it’s you’re cache settings.

Plug in W3 Total Cache and you’ll be sorted.

Just looking at W3 Total Cache

Thats a long list of installation instructions
    and also

    94 people say it works.
    48 people say it’s broken.

Thats a 1/3 of people reviewing it say it doesnt work.
I wonder whether thats either because it doesn’t work or because the installation instructions are too long and too easy to get wrong.

    Any thoughts anyone?

Number on on the installation instruction is enough to put me off

Make sure wp-content/ and wp-content/uploads/ (temporarily) has 777 permissions before proceeding, e.g.: # chmod 777 /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/wp-content/ using your web hosting control panel or your SSH account.

What on earth does this mean?

That’s how browsers work. Caching will only help you get a shorter flash time.

If you only want 1 part of the page to load, you’ll have to rewrite the theme to use AJAX.

you’ll have to rewrite the theme to use AJAX.

this is beyond the scope of my coding skills

I can personally vouch for W3Total Cache, I would say the people that say it’s broken didn’t configure it properly.

this is beyond the scope of my coding skills as good excuse as any to learn how to code.

I have w3 total cache configured, theme files exported and a CDN enabled and I still get the white flash between page loads.

I am using a twenty eleven child theme.

    Very irksome.

I am also wondering how to get the site to load faster and not flash white between pages.

Ive just installed WP Super Cache, followed this to the word
    https://geebart.com/blog/wp-super-cache-guide
and I still get white flashes (not that this says how to NOT have white flashes).
