    Hi,

I recently compared the data from WP Statistics with GA4. The page views from Statistics were always about twice as high as GA4, which is about right considering that only half of the visitors accept the cookies.
On one page the page views don’t match at all. I have 1600 hits in WP Statistics and 250 hits in GA4.
How can this be possible? Do you have any ideas?

    Thanks in advance
    Hannah

    Hi Hannah,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It seems we have a bug affecting the robot detection system which might be causing the inconsistency in page hit counts. We’re actively working to fix this and I’ll update you as soon as we have a solution. Your patience is appreciated!

    Hi Hannah,

Thanks for your message. The difference you’re seeing between WP Statistics and GA4 page views is mainly because WP Statistics also logs pages like /feed/, which GA4 might not count, resulting in more page views on our end.

Also, Google is better at filtering out bot traffic due to their extensive database, which can lead to lower numbers in GA4 compared to ours.

We’re currently working on improving our bot detection technology. We expect to release an update in the next two months that will make our tracking more accurate.

    Hi Hannah,

Regarding the discrepancy between the page view numbers in WP Statistics and GA4, it could be due to referrer spam. I would recommend that you enable the Referrer Spam Blacklist option in the WP Statistics settings under the Data Sources section. This will help filter out any fake referrer traffic that may be inflating the page view numbers in WP Statistics.

Once you’ve enabled the Referrer Spam Blacklist, please check the page view numbers again and see if the discrepancy is resolved. If the issue persists, let me know and we can look into other potential causes.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

    Best regards,
