• Hi. I have just got my blog running, and I am only have a very very basic understanding of how this all works. My friend helped me set it up. I want to know how to get something to count page hits, and I found a thread on it, but the link https://www.delymyth.net/en/index.php?p=1007 given didn’t work. Also, as I said, I really don’t know what I am doing, and would appreciate some basic instructions, if anyone can help. THanks

  • A lot of people use an external tracker for this sort of thing. Here’s a common one:

    SiteMeter’s a good service, but their image server has crashed on me a few times, thus rendering my site into complete chaos because the rest of the page refused to load until the SiteMeter logo did. I prefer to to use StatCounter now, the offer a free invisible counter. https://www.statcounter.com/

    thanks. I’ve gone to the statcounter site, and signed up for it. But I have no idea how/where to put the code. (I told you I don’t have a clue what I’m doing). Any help gratefully received, Thanks

    Stick it inside a an li tag in your sidebar, like an admin link.

    Ex: Change <li><?php wp_loginout(); ?></li> to <li><?php wp_loginout(); ?> Place StatCounter Code Here</li>
