Page excerpts and thumbnails on home page

Hi all,

I am trying to produce a home page that features my opening text and then below, in a grid format – the pages of my site with excerpts and thumbnails only. In essence – something like a category listing, but for pages not posts.

There are about 8 pages to display in this manner.

Other than doing it manually – is the a plugin or plugins that can do this?
