• I have a local server setup for testing. I am reasonably familiar with creating static sites with CSS using either my trusty editor or Dreamweaver. I am only interested in creating a non-blog site using WordPress as a CMS to allow the client to edit just one page. Is there a tutorial anywhere on the best methodology to use to create WordPress pages in this type of situation? Or alternatively on how to modify an existing basic static site to allow a single page of WordPress content?

  • Write your page via Write->Page and Publish it.

Set the Front page displays to A static page and select the page you just published in the drop-down box.

This appears to cover the situation of creating and defining the Home Page in a WordPress site. How do I create other non-blog pages on the same site?
Is there any way of having a single WordPress page display seamlessly within a normal static site and having the site owner use the Dashboard to modify the content of that page?.

First question: did you visit your own admin panel > Write > Write Page section? You can write a million Pages there…

What is a “normal static site”? Do you mean something outside of WP?

Thanks Moshu for clarification re extra Pages.
Yes, by “normal static site” I was meaning material/site/content ‘outside’ of WP.
I am seeking clarification on the practicalities/adviseability/implications of having/creating a ‘hybrid’ site to deal with the situation where the site owner wants to be able to change the content on just one page of a site, without the whole site having to be created as a WordPress site.
I cannot find anywhere online where this subject is discussed or clarified.
I welcome your comments as it is obvious from the exhaustive help that you provide on this site that you have the knowledge and familiarity with WP to provide clarification.
