I have created the contents to one of my web pages using pagebreeze, a free html editor and for some reason when I copy the html code into the “html” tab for the page I want to create the visual version of the page comes out unformattded.

Can someone tell me what I might be doing wrong? Thanks.

  • Unless you provide a link to a page demonstrating the problem, no one will be able to offer much in the way of specific help.

esmi, I appreciate your instructions. That makes perfect sense. However, in order for me to get the assistance that I need, I need to be able to share the file containing the html code for the page I created in PageBreeze but gets discombobulated when I copy it into the wp page. Any advice would be appreciated.

Just remember that the only markup you need is the markup required for the “meat” of your page. No <head></head> section or </body></html> tags. I’d suggest starting with just basic paragraph tags and nothing else. Then build up from there.

Ok I’ll give that a shot. Thanks.

Ooh one more thing. I’m a html novice – so what does the meat usually begin with?

With regard to WordPress, everything after the title of the page/post until you reach the end of the text.

I’m sorry esmi, I met in the html. I want to simply delete the portion of the html that I don’t need and copy and paste the rest. I’d just like to get a better understanding. Thanks.

    I met in the html

So did I. ?? I don’t know how your current theme is structured, so I can’t say for sure whether you should be removing everything up to, and including, the first <h1> tag or the first <h2> tag. All I can say is that you need the part after your page title heading tag right down to where the content for that page or post would end.

Why not compose your pages in the HTML tab rather than PageBreeze?

That’s a good idea. I just started from scratch and recreated the entire page and got it to load fine. Thank you for your assistance. You were great!

    You’re very welcome. ??
