• I’ve installed the plugin and indexed the site using default settings. The state of the index looks like this:

    33 documents in the index.
    80 terms in the index.
74 is the lowest post ID indexed.

The site is all pages – no posts

It’s clear from this, from searches and from looking that the relivanessi entry in the database that only the page titles are being indexed. Do I have an issue or is this what is supposed to happen? I’m looking for a search facility that will index all of my pages content so that people can search for specific phrases that appear in the content of pages and not necessarily in the titles?

    That’s not normal.

You can confirm this with the Relevanssi debugger (Settings > Relevanssi > Debugging). Enter a post ID in the first box to see how Relevanssi has indexed that post. Then you can enter the same ID to the second box to see how the post content appears to Relevanssi.

Relevanssi indexes the post content, unless it’s explicitly disabled. A common explanation for this is a site structure where the post content is stored outside the post content field. Typically, the post content is then stored in custom fields. In that case, setting Relevanssi to index all custom fields solves the problem.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I’ve had a go at that.

    Post: 74. Check:

I tried changing the settings to index all custom fields and the “state of index” came back with exactly the same numbers.

What if you save the post from the post editor, does the content appear in the Relevanssi debugging then?

I’m sorry, I’m not sure what you mean by that. All of the pages (there are no posts) were made and saved with an editor

Sometimes the post indexing doesn’t work when you click “Build the index” but works if you save a post in the editor. I was trying to rule that case out.

Something on your site is interfering with Relevanssi. You can try disabling other plugins to see if that helps Relevanssi index all the post content.

Sorry, still don’t get what you mean about the editor.

Have disabled every single plugin and still the same result.

I feel it may be more useful if I could paste the code of a page as it appears in the database here, but this wordpress form just strips everything out and doesn’t seem to have a way to paste in code.

Go edit the post as usual and save it, then check it with the debugger. Are the results different?

You can paste the code here, just put it in a Code block instead of the regular paragraph block.
