I’m having trouble making basic, routine text updates to my WordPress site using the Page Composer (instead of the “Classic Editor” because my brain doesn’t work that way). My web site itself seems to be running fine, but if I try to make any changes, I’m stuck.

I’m using the Jupiter Child Theme, not sure if this is what’s causing the problem.

When I try to edit one of my Pages, in the space where the Page Composer normally populates (where you drag and drop text boxes, photos and whatnot) there’s just a spinning wheel. And it spins overnight and never populates like it used to.

    Thanks for your help!
    Michael

is “Page Composer” a plugin? or part of your theme?

That’s a great question – I’m not sure if “Page Composer” is a plugin or a part of my Jupiter Child Theme. I’m just not familiar enough with WordPress to know. Would you mind taking a look at the screenshot I posted (dropbox link above) and maybe you can tell me if it’s a plugin or part of my theme?

    Thanks for your thoughts,

I can’t really tell by a screenshot of your dashboard.

Can you look at the list of plugins in your dashboard and tell me the list of what you see?

Best practice is to have plugin functions separate from theme.
Some themes include plugin functions into the original files.

    Did you purchase the theme?
If yes, the the best place to get support is from the theme author.
Is the theme the most updated version?

PS It looks like you have multiple plugins installed for slideshows. Do you need multiple slideshow options?

    Hi Contentiskey,

Thanks for following up. Again, sorry, I’m not very technical, so I’ll do my best to answer your questions.

Here’s a screenshot of the Plugins:

You’re right – there are several slideshow / slider plugins which I likely don’t need. As you can see I disabled the Revolution Slider (also disabled WooCommerce since I’m not selling anything) but couldn’t figure out how to get rid of the other slideshows in the side bar.

I did purchase the Jupiter Child theme. But I’m having a terrible time getting support from the Jupiter author. As far as I know it’s the most updated version. But for some unknown reason I am no longer able to edit content on my Pages like I used to, the only way I know how — which was using the ‘Page Composer.’

    Hi Michael:

Did your WordPress installation recently get updated to a newer version? It may be that the Theme is not compatible with the newer version. I have seen issues with older versions of Visual Composer (by WPBakery) suddenly not working after the newer WordPress 4.5 version was applied until the VC was upgraded to the latest version.

The page composer does not seem to be in the list of plugins so I assume it was packaged into the theme.

Since it was a theme purchased outside of the www.remarpro.com repository, forum volunteers don’t have access the theme to look around.

Sorry to hear that the theme author is not easy to reach for support.
Is your licence still active/valid from your purchase?

    Hi again,

After a lot of headaches and digging around it looks like my Theme and WP 4.5.2 don’t get along well. Unable to update my Theme, I was able to downgrade WordPress by following this tutorial:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lX3E-qIpJM

Ultimately I’ll need to figure out how to update my Theme, then upgrade back to the latest version of WP. But thank you for your help in the meantime!

    best,
    -m

I’m having the exact same issue now with my page. I have the same jupiter theme. I updated to 4.7 and it doesn’t work.
    Any tips?
