• I just installed WordPress 2.5.1 and ran wp-install.php. It asked me to log in. When I did so, I got a totally blank page in both Internet Explorer and Firefox. Firefox says “Done”, so apparently the login was successful. When I tried to View Source, there was none – I got a blank page. However, using Dreamweaver, the files do seem to be up on the Web site properly.

I’m using SQL 5.0.45-community-nt and PHP 5.2.5. I looked in the database and everything appears proper – blog title, my administrator account, and so on.

Trying to go to https://www.theschoolforheroes.com/wordpress/wp-login.php takes me to https://www.theschoolforheroes.com/wordpress/wp-admin/ and gives the error HTTP 403 Forbidden, “The Website declined to show this web page.”

  • On the off chance – have you had a look at any of the suggestions here?

Hanni – The problem they describe in the post you linked is similar but not the same –
a: This is a new wordpress site, starting with WP 2.5.1
b: Once I log in, and the login is processed, the screen goes totally blank
c: the WordPress folder is on the same level as the index page to the site.
I have another WP site I developed earlier this year and managed to get it to work fine on a different database and host. I’m not sure what the problem is here.

    Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Update: I downloaded version 2.6, deleted all my WordPress files, and reinstalled it (also new DB name prefix). I can log in successfully, but immediately get an Error 403 (some sort of privilege problem), just as with the 2.5.1 install. Yes, I looked at the suggestions to which Hanni (thank you!) pointed.

It appears to be taking me to the wp-admin folder rather than to a page. Firefox says “Directory Listing Denied”. The address bar in both pages shows https://www.theschoolforheroes.com/wordpress/wp-admin/ rather than any specific .html page.

    What do I do next?
