• I was using the free version of Wordfence Plugin and it is working fantastic. Now I am thinking about buying it, but I am facing an issue with the existing plugin in my development server. I could not load my website because of the plugin activity. Could you please address on the below issue and give me a solution steps to overcome the issue?

  • Hi @kdyadav7884,

Could you please give me more details about the issue?

Can you see any errors in the PHP logs? Or on the “Wordfence –> Tools –> Diagnostics” page?

Do you confirm that if you temporarily disable Wordfence the problem doesn’t occur?

    Hi @wfyann,

I can see the following errors when I check in the plugin’s diagnostics page

    Connectivity
    1. Connecting to Wordfence servers (http) ——–> wp_remote_post() test to noc1.wordfence.com failed! Response was: 200 OK<br /> This likely means that your hosting provider is blocking requests to noc1.wordfence.com or has set up a proxy that is not behaving itself.<br /> This additional info may help you diagnose the issue. The response headers we received were:<br /> content-type => text/html<br />

    2. Connecting to Wordfence servers (https) ——–> wp_remote_post() test to noc1.wordfence.com failed! Response was: cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10000 milliseconds with 0 out of 0 bytes received<br />

In the php_error.log file I found the below mentioned error:

[16-Apr-2018 03:55:27 UTC] The file C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts does not exists

When I keep the plugin disabled the development site is working fine.

    Thanks & Regards.

    Hi @kdyadav7884,

As mentioned in the error message this is most likely caused by restrictions implemented by your hosting provider. Have you checked with them?

Please make sure your site is able to reach our servers.

    Hi @wfyann,

I have checked with my hosting provider, there were no restrictions from their end. When I keep the older version with out upgrading, website works fine. Issue occurred after upgrading the plugin to latest version!

Kindly look into the issue and provide solution at the earliest.

    Thanks & Regards.
