I updated a number of plugins on my install.

If I enable OPCode page cache on W3, the website just returns a blank page for non-logged in users. (ad admin, I get to see the correct site however).

    Thanks!

    Hello,
Go to Performance>General settings, Page cache sub-box and change caching method. save all settings and purge caches.
Next, go to your cPanel and delete the cache folder in your wp-content folder.
    See if the issue persists.

following your instructions and setting the cache method to BASIC, it still did not work.

setting it to Enhanced, the page would first not work but then automatically reload to a working page..

    Hello,

Make sure to delete the old cache. Via Cpanel, delete your wp-content/cache folder.

    Thanks, that did the trick!

(although last time I had deleted the cache from FTP after switching to basic.. but not after switching to enhanced).

So should I just leave it on Enhanced disk, rather than OPCode/APC? Or can I try OPCode/APC in the future again? (seeing as it did used to work!)

    Thanks!

    Hello,

Yes, you can leave it on Enhanced disk.
    You can also use OPCode/APC.
