    Under Appearance -> Customize will be a Custom CSS pane where you can enter custom css.

    The CSS rule to change background colors is simply:

    body { background-color: purple; }

    It may not necessarily be the body you want to change, and you may need to be more specific than body to actually change the background color but without any link to your website it’s difficult to help you out more specifically the the above suggestions.
