    I’m studying WordPress on Lynda.
But i’m still having trouble to understand a couple of things.
First of all, when i create categories, they don’t show up on the post or page.
Secondly, when i try to create a hierachy for the pages, all i can see is ‘order’ and then i have to put a number, but i need to make 2 or 3 sub-pages for one category, so a child and a grandchild ?? don’t know how to do it

Thirdly, on the post or page, i don’t seem to see how to create a header even which will then show the sub-category once selected.

    Basically, i’m a mess ??
    Help

when i create categories, they don’t show up on the post or page.

By default, categories will not be displayed whilst they are empty.

when i try to create a hierachy for the pages

Use the Parent dropdown in the Page Attributes box to define a page’s parent.

i don’t seem to see how to create a header

    Can you clarify that please?

Well, i put a couple of pages under a category so it’s not empty,
the parent dropdown doesn;t show up, the only thing i see is ‘Template’
    and below there’s ‘order’

If i want to have a header on the hompage, About, Contact us etc…they don;t show up even though i created a page

I assume you meant “posts”. Static Pages cannot be filed under a category.

the parent dropdown doesn;t show up

Are there any posts in the parent’s category?

With regard to your header image, what theme are you using? Where did you download it from?

    regarding pages

Can you please clarify whether you are referring to Posts or Pages? The difference is important.

You need to add at least 1 published Post to a category before that category will appear on the site.
