Page and Post ID Number Increasing Big Time

    Hi,

    I am putting the finishing touches on a new WP installation (2.7.1)
    I have the following plug-ins active:

    • Akismet, Audio Player
    • Blubrry Powerpress
    • Contact Form 7
    • Exclude Pages From Navigation
    • Featured Content Gallery
    • Reveal IDs for WP Admins
    • WordPress.com Stats

    I am using a modified Church 3.0 theme from Revolution

    I had a couple of other plugins installed at one time but they have been deactivated and deleted from the plug-in directory.

    Since I am using the “Reveal IDs for WP Admins” plug-in the page and post ID numbers are displayed when on the edit screen. I just noticed that the page/post ID numbers are growing larger for no apparent reason. For example I only have abourt 30 or so pages but now some of the latest pages I have added are in the 300 range. It looks like there are large gaps in the page/post numbering sequence.

    Is this the sign of something wrong and needs attention?

    Thanks in advance for any ideas on this.

  • Pages and posts and revisions and auto-saves and attachments all take ID numbers in the wp_posts table so that would explain the condition you are describing.

    Thanks for the fast reply. That makes sense. I thought I had a problem brewing but looks like all will be well.
